SA Water is a successful, modern water utility wholly owned by the Government of South Australien. About the job

The People Partner plays a key role in supporting SA Water’s performance by partnering closely with Senior Leaders to deliver contemporary people strategies aligned to business priorities and long‑term workforce outcomes. Acting as a trusted adviser, they proactively translate strategy into action through insight‑led people initiatives that lift engagement, retention, workforce sustainability and inclusion.

Working alongside Executive and senior leadership teams, the role focuses on strengthening people leadership capability, enabling change and delivering initiatives that create lasting value. As a champion of culture and continuous improvement, the People Partner supports organisational transformation and ensures people outcomes enable SA Water to achieve its purpose.

About the Person

The ideal candidate is a proactive, strategic People Partner who enjoys building strong relationships and influencing at senior levels. They are confident in coaching and supporting leaders to improve outcomes for their teams and the organisation. Analytical and commercially aware, they are comfortable using people data to identify opportunities, inform decisions and track impact. Moving beyond transactional HR, they partner thoughtfully and pragmatically, balancing empathy with accountability to deliver sustainable people and business outcomes.

About People and Safety

The People and Safety group are focused on ensuring workforce well‑being and success through strategies such as talent attraction, diversity, and collaboration, while also prioritising health and safety efforts to prevent harm and promote overall well‑being and career development.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australien, every day.

You will:

  • Build strong, influential partnerships with Senior Leaders to deliver medium‑ and long‑term people strategies aligned to business priorities.
  • Use people data and insights to drive measurable improvement across workforce metrics.
  • Coach and support leaders to strengthen their people leadership capability.
  • Lead people initiatives and projects that deliver tangible value to the business.
  • Navigate complex people matters with confidence, integrity and sound judgement.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources/Business/Psychology/Law or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in HR Business Partnering alongside Senior Leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of industrial instruments (legislation, awards and Enterprise Agreements, policies and procedures).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including coaching, counselling and negotiation.
  • Strong attention to detail and self management.
  • Ability to identify new ways to support and implement continuous improvement.
  • Ability to recognise trends and develop recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross functional projects and delivering business outcomes is desirable.
