Flight test engineer (m/f/d)

As a UAV Flight Test Engineer at CycloTech, you will play a pivotal role in the testing and optimization of our advanced CycloRotor propulsion system. You will be responsible for executing, analyzing, and documenting flight test activities for technology demonstrators while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safety, efficiency, and innovation in our flight operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and execute flight test programs, including hazard identification and risk mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to prepare and implement test orders, procedures, and relevant documentation (e.g., checklists, SOPs).
• Analyze flight test data in real-time and post-test using dedicated tools.
• Generate comprehensive test reports, clearly documenting results, findings, and recommendations.
• Contribute to the refinement of hardware and software systems, particularly the flight control system.
• Provide feedback on vehicle performance to optimize flight control and overall design.
• Own Flight Test Instrumentation and/or other Flight Test systems
• Act as SME for relevant Flight Test Systems (GCS, FTI, etc.)

• Bachelors or masters degree in aerospace engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of similar previous experience in UAV flight testing
• Demonstrable experience in UAV flight test operations and relevant engineering practices.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools, data post-processing and relevant programming languages (i.e. Python, MATLAB)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Advanced communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• CAT 1 or CAT 2 Flight Test Engineer certification is highly desirable.
• Experience with Flight Test Instrumentation.
• Experience with aviation product certification testing (e.g., DO-178C standards).
• Familiarity with UAS platforms and advanced flight control systems.
• EASA drone pilot competency certificate (A1, A2, A3 subcategories) or equivalent is nice to have.
• PPL or CPL certification is nice to have.
• Experience as a UAV test pilot is nice to have.
