The Department of Islamic-Theological Studies is looking for a University Assistant Postdoc in the field of Islam in Contemporary Society. The position comprises 40 hours and is limited to 4 years. We are a young team and offer a pleasant working atmosphere, flexible working hours and good opportunities for further training.

Your future workplace will be at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies, primarily in the area of the professorship Islam in Contemporary Society. In addition to conducting independent research and developing research projects in the core disciplines of Islamic theology, you will be responsible for teaching at the Department.

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

Theological and interdisciplinary engagement with questions of religious plurality and interreligious dialogu

Empirical and conceptual research on Muslim life in Europe, in particular on the institutionalisation and organisation of Islamic communitie

Analysing the interactions between Islamic law and European legal systems, including ethical issues in the areas of bioethics, economic ethics and environmental ethic

Development of theological and pedagogical concepts for Islamic educational work, particularly in the context of imam and counselling training and teaching in mosque
