Occupational Health & Safety Officer
Purpose of the role
The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the occupational health and safety management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuous improvement and Maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System in line with the Corporate Standard and ISO45001
- Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and implementation of risk management controls
- Continuous improvement and Maintenance of the Health and Safety Culture
- Internal and External Audits
Requirements
Education
- Post Matric qualification; i.e., Diploma in Safety Management or related field
- Holder of SAMTRAC qualification, NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
- Valid registration with SAIOSH
- Valid driver license with own vehicle
Experience & Knowledge
- Over 5 years experience in the health and safety officer role
- Previous work at managerial level
- Experience in conducting Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments
- Clear understanding of risk mitigation processes
- Advanced Microsoft suite skills
- Advanced communication skills in English; Speaker of Zulu language preferred
- Advance knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards
- Advance understanding and interpretation of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety hazards and mitigation measures
