Laundry Aide

Position Title: Laundry Aide ($14.00/hr with possible $15.00/hr with perfect attandance bonus) Occupational Exposure: Category I Department: Laundry Reports To: Director of Environmental Services/Laundry Supervisor Position Summary: The Laundry Aide provides a variety of laundry duties in maintaining the nursing center in an orderly, sanitary condition and in collecting and laundering of linens, garments, and washables. Responsibilities/Accountabilities: 1. Assist in transporting the laundry containers of soiled linen and clean linen carts; 2. Operates commercial and residential washing machines and dryers; 3. Loads soiled linen into washers and loads clean, wet linens into dryers; 4. Proceeds to fold clean, dry linen and place into clean carts; 5. Keeps accurate records of linen inventory; 6. Washes, dries, folds and distributes customer clothing; 7. Maintains equipment and the laundry areas, cleans and keeps areas in a neat, orderly and safe manner; 8. Follows all policies and procedures of the nursing center; 9. Check stock and notifies supervisor of supply needs; 10. Delivers laundry as specified; 11. Puts Customer Service First: Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals needs and rights; 12. Performs other duties as requested. Specific Educational/Vocational Requirements: 1. High school degree or equivalent is preferred. 2. Must be able to read, write and understand the English language. Job Skills: 1. Good physical condition. 2. Working knowledge of standard materials, techniques and equipment used in laundry activities. 3. Knowledge of cleaning materials and reason for their use. 4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 5. Ability to positively interact with personnel, customers, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public. 6. Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test. Performs Related Duties: 1. Interact with customers, families, visitors, center and Care Center Facility subsidiary personnel. 2. Carries out other tasks as requested in situations where hands-on intervention/ participation may be required.
