About Communications:Seattle Parks and Recreation Communications Unit manages the day-to-day communications needs of one of the countrys best parks and recreation agencies. This work includes providing excellent customer service to community members reaching out to ask a question or get connected to a program/service. This work also includes communicating the diversity of programs, parks, and services offered throughout Seattles parks, recreation centers and programs, and aquatic centers. Additionally, the communications team works to keep Seattle Parks and Recreation employees informed and connected to the organization.

This position manages the external website for Seattle Parks and Recreation. This position also provides administrative support for the communications team—purchasing, managing invoices, technology inventory and support, support to other administrative staff on the team, and social media content creation and support. Job Responsibilities
  • Regularly reviews and manages the Seattle Parks and Recreation website pages to ensure adherence to all City policies
  • Edits and publishes updates to city webpages
  • Works with staff to develop new webpages, new web layouts, or the best way to communicate web content
  • Fixes out of date information and errors on city webpages
  • Provides support to other Seattle Parks and Recreation editors for their website updates
  • Serve as back up to answering reception phone line
  • Updates google and Yelp listings
  • Pulls information from Google Analytics to provide data for the blog and website
  • Provides administrative support to communications unit—purchasing, invoicing, contracts, communications unit technology support
  • Supports other communication tasks such as blog writing, social media content creation, simple graphic design.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires three years of clerical support experience (or a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides evidence of the ability to perform work of the class.)
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, and internet search tools
  • Experience managing a website, database, or large data set

Desired Qualifications:

  • Helpful and professional email and phone conduct
  • Experience managing and updating a website
  • Understanding of ADA accessibility requirements for digital documents and graphics
  • Familiarity with SharePoint editing and management
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience processing payments and requesting repayment for invoices
  • Can switch between tasks easily
  • Readily asks for help and clarification
  • Willing to learn new software
  • Familiarity with social media
  • Willing to help where needed
  • Committed to furthering racial equity and social justice through Seattle Parks and Recreation and in the workplace
  • Familiarity with Seattle Parks and Recreation is a plus

The full salary range for this position is $36.88 - $42.96 per hour. The City of Seattle offers a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, holiday, and sick leave as well as medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance for employees and their dependents.
